Our Story

From lawn care
to a full-grown farm.

Kahnke Inc. was formed in 1969 and started out as a lawn and landscape maintenance and snow removal company. From there it expanded to include landscape installation and later irrigation installation and maintenance. As the Twin Cities metro area grew, Kahnke Inc. moved its location from Edina, to Eden Prairie, to Victoria, and now to its present home in Plato, MN. In 2020–2021, as the founding brothers approached retirement, they sold the company to ASRJ, d.b.a. Kahnke’s.

Kahnke Inc. opened its growing range in 1993 to serve as a source for ball & burlap trees, originally installed on commercial job sites by Kahnke Brothers, Inc. and sold at our former retail location, Nature’s Bounty Garden Center in Victoria, MN. As our commercial division grew, it made sense to begin growing our own shrubs and perennials too.

Kahnke Inc. Founded

Started as a lawn and landscape maintenance and snow removal company, later expanding into installation and irrigation across the growing Twin Cities metro.

1993

The Growing Range Opens

Established to produce ball & burlap trees, originally installed on commercial sites and sold through Nature’s Bounty Garden Center in Victoria, MN.

Early 2000s

Farm Sales Take Root

The Victoria retail store closed and Saturday sales began at the farm. Fruit trees and native wildflowers joined the inventory as farm sales flourished.

2020–Today

A New Chapter as Kahnke’s

Now based in Plato, MN, and operating as ASRJ d.b.a. Kahnke’s, we serve commercial and residential landscapes across the Twin Cities, greater Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and South Dakota.
