A bold accent in the landscape, Golden Catalpa is a unique medium-sized tree. The large heart shaped leaves are velvety and bright yellow with a lime-green tint by late summer. Blooming in mid-summer, pollinators are attracted to its large 8? panicles of fragrant 2? orchid-like flowers that are white with yellow stripes, and purple on the inside. Bean-like persistent seed pods follow the spectacular floral display. A slower grower than the species, the dense globe shaped crown has low branching and a short trunk. The bark is gray-brown, fissures, and flakes off for a rough textured appearance. Adapts to a range of well-drained soil types.
